ChatGPT Builds a Login App
Watch ChatGPT write the code for an Android login app, and see what it gets right and what you still need to check.
Build it step by step
Build it yourself
ChatGPT can write a login screen in seconds, but you still need to check what it gives you. The full, tested version of this app is in the Simple Login tutorial, with every step explained.
What to check in AI-written code
- Does it compile with today's libraries? AI often suggests old versions or APIs that have been replaced.
- Where is the password checked? A login that compares against values in the code is fine for learning, but real apps check a database or a server.
- Are passwords stored safely? They should be hashed, never saved as typed. See Login and Register with SQLite.
- Does it handle mistakes? Empty boxes, wrong passwords and rotating the phone should all behave sensibly.
